Vaccinations, medication and travel advice

Travel Assessment

Travel advice is offered by our Practice Nurses and runs on a regular basis.

Please remember that most immunisations take up to 14 days to be effective. Some need to be ordered by prescription beforehand and some require a course of injections over several weeks. We would therefore ask you to come to the surgery in advance of your initial appointment, which should be at least 8 weeks prior to the expected date of travel.

Please note we are unable to provide Yellow fever vaccination for a temporary period due to staff undergoing training.

Do you need vaccinations?

Before you travel, it’s important to find out whether you will need vaccinations for the country you’re visiting. The following websites will help you.

Asthma Clinic

In the Long Term Health Conditions clinic the specialist nurse, Julie Barnes, monitors patients who have asthma, COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) or episodes of recurring wheeze. If appropriate, we will send written invitations to patients to attend an annual check-up.

If you have asthma, or you’re a parent of a child with asthma, we offer expert advice.
